A GC working for the City of New Westminster required accurate and reliable underground utility information to plan the construction of a new hospital wing, Enabling the building to upgrade the surrounding water and drainage utilities and bringing them up to code.
The successful implementation of SUE (locating, identifying, and characterizing all existing utility infrastructure) provides the platform for successful design; reduces the risk of expensive extras during construction and ensures a safer working environment as the unknown is eliminated.
Being a high-traffic area of both vehicles and pedestrians, lots of careful planning went into the scheduling of this survey.
Several weeks of night shifts later and GeoScan’s elevated level of technical knowledge coupled with a systematic data collection procedure lead to the creation of a digital GPS plotted utility composite of the entire project area.
This enabled the client to do what they want with knowledge of all underground utilities within the project area.
